Bolt represents merchants for all fraud-related chargebacks by default. However, eligible merchants can upgrade their chargeback coverage by joining Bolt’s chargeback consultancy program, which includes non-fraud chargeback representation for merchants using payment gateways (not for merchants using Bolt payments).
Allowing Bolt to handle chargebacks can benefit merchants by:
- Protecting or improving the merchant’s authorization rate
- Improving payment-step conversion rates
Chargeback Handling Process
1. Fraudulent Chargebacks
Bolt handles fraudulent chargebacks by default. See our chargeback policy for more details. Bolt will require access to your payment processor to either accept or represent fraudulent chargebacks if there is a likelihood of friendly fraud. In certain cases, we may reach out to you to acquire documents to support our case. Otherwise, no further action is required from you.
2. Non-Fraudulent Chargebacks
Merchants enrolled in Bolt’s chargeback consultancy program can submit a request form to Bolt Support for chargeback representation. Merchants should include all relevant documentation outlined in Bolt’s chargeback dispute guide. This enables Bolt to win more chargebacks on your behalf.
- Merchant must have <20 merchant-liable disputes per month to qualify
Chargeback Handling Requirements
Bolt Support must have limited access to your payment processor portal in order to handle disputes on your behalf. This enables our team to collect and submit dispute evidence, as well as quickly respond to all time-sensitive action items associated with your chargebacks.
You can share access to your processor portals by granting relevant permissions to email@example.com.
