You can add PayPal to Bolt Checkout as a payment method for your shoppers. This is done through the Merchant Dashboard. You must have a PayPal Merchant Account before setting up this integration.
How to Add PayPal to Checkout
You must first reach out to your Customer Success Manager to have access to Alternative Payment Settings.
- Log in to the Merchant Dashboard.
- Navigate to Settings > Checkout.
- Scroll to Alternative Payment Settings.
- Select Sign up for PayPal. You are redirected to PayPal to log in.
- Log in to PayPal to integrate with Bolt.
- Return to Settings > Checkout > Alternative Payment Settings.
- Enable shopper access to PayPal using the toggle.
You can disable PayPal checkout at any time by returning to these settings.
Unlink PayPal
You can unlink a PayPal account to add a new account if necessary.
- Log in to your Merchant Dashboard.
- Navigate to Settings > Checkout.
- Scroll to Payment Methods.
- Select Unlink.
About PayPal Transactions
Transaction Flow
PayPal will handle the transaction flow in the following order:
- Authorization
- Capture
Transaction Details
For any PayPal transaction, you will see the payment method denoted as 'PayPal' when you are looking at the transaction details.
Transaction Reports
Due to being a separate funding process, PayPal transactions will not be included in the following reports:
- Monthly Statement CSV
- Daily Funding CSV
On the transaction page export, in the Type column, you will see paypal_payment for PayPal transactions and applepay_payment for Apple Pay transactions.
Recharge and Refund
You will be able to recharge and refund PayPal transactions like any other Bolt transaction.
Fees and Fraud
Risk Review
PayPal transactions are not vetted by Bolt's risk review process and are not indemnified by Bolt. These transactions are indemnified by PayPal's PayPal Seller Protection.
PayPal Fee
PayPal charges a fee for all credit card transactions. The fee is charged through PayPal directly via their Merchant Fees.
