General Availability Release Notes

Bolt General Availability(GA) releases are full product or product feature releases intended for the public at large. When a product reaches GA, it becomes available as ready-to-use for the intended audience. Additional target audiences may be added in the future. This page lists past Bolt GA Releases with associated notes. The releases are arranged by date.

Note — For Magento Commerce, those with GitHub project access can review the changelog here.

Releases are divided into:

  • General Releases — Large feature releases, product releases, and notable Plugin enhancements. GA releases and notes are released on Fridays.
  • Maintenance Releases and Fixes — Small feature enhancements and issue resolutions. Bolt maintenance releases and fixes launch Monday through Thursday. The notes are collated and posted on Fridays.

2020 Releases

2/14 — General Release

  • Product Page Checkout — (Magento Commerce(M2)) Customers can click 'Buy now' this will create a new cart with this item only and any selected quantities and options, and their cart on the website will be preserved.
  • Advanced Checkout Customization — We have added three types of customization options within the checkout modal (exact scope TBD by tech spec):
    • Color, font, and styling of core elements (fields, radio buttons, and buttons).
    • Custom notices.
    • Customization of the copy.
  • Remove Bolt's Success Page (Redirect to merchant confirmation) — After customers complete checkout, they are shown a Bolt success page with a 5-second countdown. They are then redirected to the merchant’s order success page. Bolt will provide the option to remove the Bolt success page. This may improve conversion metrics for some merchants. Customers sometimes leave the site before being redirected to the merchant’s success page and some merchants use that page to track conversion. See: Bolt Checkout WalkthroughPurchase with a Bolt AccountCreating a Bolt Account
  • Admin Settings in Merchant Dashboard — Today we have a number of merchant-specific settings that are only accessible through Bolt’s internal controls. We are moving a number of settings from internal control to the Bolt Merchant Dashboard, putting these settings directly in the hands of merchants. Settings include Checkout Settings and Shopper Notification Settings.

2/13 — Maintenance Releases and Fixes

  • New  — Allows merchants to specify for each shipping option the Avalara taxcode as "tax_code" during the shipping_and_tax webhook call.
  • New  — Opening and closing the checkout modal will now retain the scroll position on the page.

2/7 — General Release

  • New  — Prefill City/State from Entered ZIP  When a shopper enters a US ZIP code into an address form and then tabs or clicks into the next field, the city/state fields are immediately updated. If the ZIP code maps to multiple cities/states, then the most likely site is used. If the ZIP code is invalid, the shopper will see the current invalid ZIP error message. If the ZIP code is valid but does not correspond to any city/state, then the city/state fields won’t change. If the shopper returns to the ZIP field changes the ZIP to a new one and then exits the filed, the city/state will update again. The ZIP code won’t cause the city/state fields to prefill if the shopper uses any non-typing method. For example, if the shopper uses Google Autocomplete or other autofill. In these cases, Bolt will use the ZIP/city/state as provided by the autofill.

2/6 — Maintenance Releases and Fixes
