Bolt Checkout Walkthrough

The standard Bolt Checkout process is called Guest checkout and proceeds through three pages.

The three pages that a guest will see are:

Page One — Shipping

When a customer first arrives in Bolt Checkout, they arrive on the Shipping page. This page is tasked with the collection of the customer's shipping information.

At the top the customer will be directed to enter in their basic information:

  • Email
  • Phone number

Below that, the customer will be directed to enter in their ship-to information:

  • First name
  • Last name
  • Street address
  • Country
  • Zip
  • City
  • State 

If applicable, the customer will be able to apply a coupon or promo code in the top right corner by clicking on "+PROMO" which will expand and allow text to be entered. 

When the customer completes all of the fields and clicks Continue, they will be taken to page two of Bolt Checkout, Delivery.  


Page Two — Delivery

After completing Shipping, customers will arrive at the Delivery page. The Shipping page is tasked with the selection of the delivery options. 

Customers are shown up to three delivery options. By default, the cheapest method of shipping will be selected.

The order of delivery options is based on the customer's address and the merchant's tax and shipping configurations. The displayed information includes a text string and price which is pulled from your current tax and shipping configurations. 

Note — The screenshot below includes an optional delivery instruction field.  By default, this option is not enabled unless the merchant requests that option.

Note — Digital Goods Only checkout will bypass the Delivery page.

After the customer makes their selection, and clicks Continue they will be taken to the Payment Page of Bolt Checkout.  


Page Three — Payment

The last page that a customer will interact with during Bolt Checkout is the Payment page. The Payment page is tasked with the collection of the customer's payment information.

The customer will be directed to enter their preferred method of payment, including:

  • Card number
  • Expiration date
  • CVV
  • First & Last name on the card

Note — Bolt does not require or ask for a billing address or zip

By default, Bolt will save the customer's information gathered during checkout. This will allow your customer to use Bolt Instant Checkout for future transactions.  Customers will have the option to opt out of this feature. 

After the customer completes all fields and hits Pay, they will first be taken to Bolt's Success page, and then taken to your native order confirmation screen.
